I just tried booting my custom made computer without any drives connected and I keep gettin constant Beeps. and also an orange light was lit on the motherboard where it says DIMM LED CONN near it. The beeps were at a rate of 1 beep per second. CAn someone please help me?

What is the make of the board?

Also consult the manual or manufacturers webpage as it may be on there...definitely will help any CS from that company.

i have 3 comments...

1) usually you want that led on, i think it means that the ram is installed...however, it should say in the motherboard manual exactly what that led means

2) as a general rule you should give more details about your system components when you ask a question like this. do you have a monitor attached? does anything happen when you power up the computer? even with no drives attached, as long as you have a video card and ram installed it should at least post and allow you to access the bios

3) based on this question and your previous question (about installing the hard drive), it sounds like you should find a friend with computer building experience. i will help as much as possible (as will other members i'm sure) but it is hard to walk you through all possible problems/solutions if you have no experience building a computer

Award Bios
Gigabyte GA-7DX motherboard

It might be the ram, i am going to try booting up using the ohter ram slot. hope it works...

as I had the monitor connector attached to the video card Tv-out
but nothing was sent to the monitor to display

<< as I had the monitor connector attached to the video card Tv-out >>

what do you mean? are you referring to an actual tv-out or just the regular monitor connector? is the video card properly seated (same thing for the ram)?

Tv-out function will not work until proper drivers are installed, most likely. Hook up a standard monitor to standard vga out...

When you start does the cpu fan and any other fan come on?

yeah, all the fans come on

the monitor connector does not fit into the "regular" slot but I don't think that this is the problem because I tried booting up without the monitor connected but got the same constant beeps

Yes, I am pretty sure that the video card and the ram is properly seated.

I am using the monitor off of my HP pavilion
the monitor is HP M70 17" monitor

I am positive that the CPU is seated correctly

now i just saw a third thread from you where you describe your problems connecting the monitor. i really do not want to sound like an a@@hole but you really need to find a friend who knows what he/she is doing...

Ugggghhhh...Proprietary crap???? I never heard of such a thing....

I think you need monitor plugged into vid card for it to register the vid card...this may be the problem. It may be detecting vid, meaning monitor, is not detected to send a signal of the posting....
