Boot up problems

My PC has suddenly decided it will not boot up. On pressing the power switch the fans run for about 2 seconds then shut down. There is no post bleep, drive noise or any sign of screen activity. As the fans (power supply and CPU) are shutting down, does this suggest a Power supply fault because I would have thought they would run regardless of motherboard/cpu/ram faults?

I hope this is an easy one to crack for those with some knowledge.

Firstly you should list your specs, as amdskip suggests.

A one off here - last week i had a couple of boards i tried in a system that did exactly the same - turns out the power switch was buggered. Not saying that yours is, but it is worth a try -
If it stays on for 4 seconds each time, then disconnect the header connections, and touch the two pins together on the mobo for power switch. See if that does it.
