I bought a WD "My Book" External Drive. It is working properly, however when I try to boot up I get "Disk Boot Failure, Insert Disk......." In the BIOS, 1st Boot is floppy, Second Boot is HDD, 3rd Boot is CDROM, and I have Boot Other Devices disabled. It still hangs up. I have done all that I know to do. Need Help!

AMD Athlon XP2800+ @ 2.08 GHz
ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe Rev 2
Corsair TwinX 1 GB DDR400 XMS3200
Radeon 9800np 128 DDR
HDD WD 120 GB SATA
PS 400 WATT ENERMAX.
OS Windows XP home

Apparently it is trying to boot from the external. Why not just not plug it in until after the system is booted, i.e., needed?

Check the boot order in your CMOS to see if the external drive is listed before the main drive. My perferred boot order:

1. Floppy drive

2. CD/DVD

3. HD0 (first hard drive)

I had the same problem, and the same BIOS settings for booting. I just have to make sure it's unplugged before booting up, and then plug it in anytime after the OS on HD0 is recognised.
