Boot to windows 9x from a CD?

Ok I found this article that shows how to create a cd that will boot to windows 9x. It has something to do with loading the registry into a ramdrive. Anyway what I was wondering was if the method described in the article would create a "generic" installation of windows (i.e will this cd have the ability to boot to any computer if I install generic drivers for the most basic components) I would try to make one of my own but it takes a long time and I would have to have a clean install of windows to do it so I was hoping some of you gurus out here could give me a little help! Thanks!

Interesting link, and could be fun for someone who has the hours to spare. Sounds like the cd win98 install you're creating would be a "bare" install as long as, during setup, you were able to cancel the installation of the modem, NICs, etc. that are in the computer. Better would be, when you do it, to first remove all the extraneous adapters from the computer on which you're running the project.
