boot to post screen problem

I have a laptop that suddenly stopped booting properly. When I turn it on, all the led's for the caps lock, num lock, and hdd activity are held on. Even if I try to press caps lock, it won't turn off. There is no display on the lcd whatsoever and no post screen. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be wrong with it? Oddly enough I ran Memtest86 a few days before this crash and it reported no errors. I also tried taking out the memory, hdd, dvd-rom drive, and my tv tuner but didn't get the post screen boot up. Any suggestions are appreciated.

No POST with no error generally means bad RAM, bad mobo, bad video, bad CPU or bad power.

Or, very rarely, corrupt CMOS.

If I try to boot without cpu should it still go to POST screen? Or do you need processor for that? As far as I'm concerned, RAM is good cause of the memtest86 test.
