i do web dev, so i decided i needed ie6 back on for testing, so i removed ie7, then installed ie6, which of course was not a smooth process, and required a system file check scan to fix whatever was causing ie6 to get screwy.

now my boot times have gone through the roof. i have 2x 36GB raptors in raid-0 on an sil3114r5 controller.

everything is fine before winxp starts loading, then the sh1t hits the fan.

before the point where i can F8 it, everything is fine, after that, the boot screen appears, both safe and normal mode hang for maybe 10 secs with no HD access. then the hd starts a ton of seeking, but it doesn't sound like it's loading anything. finally it does start to read the drivers and ends up loading. after it boots, everything is fine. here is a timeline i got from RegRun BootLog XP.

42 seconds to load drivers is pretty bad. it used to take maybe between 5 and 10 secs between when the boot screen appeared and when i got the login prompt.

any ideas?

bootvis doesnt want to work cause they're sata drives and i get an error.
