Sarted out with my computer stopping about half way thru the windows load, loading the start up stuff like volume control, soundblaster stuff, and on logitch mouse control it would stop say there was and error and couldn't continue. Could only get in and fix in safe mode where i deleted the logitech stuff and rebooted and (in sfmode) and this time everything loaded. So went and loaded normaly and right after the windows screen a message would flash (very quickly)must reload windows.
No problem, I poped in the startup disk and at the set up screed it go this message "Boot Sector Write!! VIRUS: Continue Y/N." So hit y and it instantly went back to a prompt, thought that was fast and continued. Then after it checks the drives (where it said there were errors on the c drive (something about 65,000 bites of _____ data) but wouldn't let me continue with out fixing it. Fixed it and after the dos looking screens where it begins to setup immediately proior to starting to load windows the message pops up again "Boot Sec....." So I try writing the mbr using 'fdisk/mbr' which when you hit enter pulles up the same message "Boot..." and instantly goes back to a or c prompt (tried both). So then I went to maxtor's site and dl thier maxi blast and a dignostic program and tried them. Thier install program had the same problem at the same time that windows does. So then i loaded the diagnostic program and it said the drive was operating properly. So finally I decided to do a low level format!!!! That took like 4 hours and I was sure it would work. Poped in the windows cd and immediately tried fdisk/mbr and again same message popped up. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
I did have norton antivirus (the latest version) loaded on my computer and i ran two checks one programs only and one a complete check, check mbr was also selected?? Both times it found NO virus????????
