Something of an unusual problem that I suspect belongs in this grouping. I'm really out of ideas on this one and can really use some help. Here's the background:
For many years, I've used System Commander 2000, a DOS based boot manager, on all of my systems. To isolate it entirely from the various operating systems it boots, I've installed it in a small partition of it's own - the first one on the first drive in all instances - together with the system files so that it would itself boot at start-up. The software has always functioned flawlessly. About six months ago, I replaced the graphics card that came with the computer, an Nvidia Riva, with an ATI Radeon 7000, manufactured by PowerSpec, the MicroCenter house brand. I've been delighted with this new card. Attempting to access System Commander's partitioning cabability from within that program, however, I get a strange, blue band across the top 10% of the monitor's screen and can get no further. It's been some time since I've needed to repartition the drive involved, and the last time I did so the Nvidia Riva card was installed. Quite literally, the only thing new in the circumstances is the ATI card. I've uninstalled and reinstalled System Commander to make certain that it's files had not corrupted in some way but even with a new installation, the blue band appears once I try to reach SC's partitioning GUI. I use this machine as a webserver, have a Linux distro and Apache installed and run it entirely from the command line. There are circumstances under which it's necessary for me to reach the web graphically from this machine, but I've relied upon various Linux livecds for that purpose. The PowerSpec ATI Radeon 7000 cards came without drivers when I purchased it so the only drivers I've needed for it have been those provided by the livecds. I'd say the problem with System Commander was a video driver problem if all of it's other pages failed to render but they're just fine. But it work find with the old card so I'm suspicious. I'm really lost in trouble shooting this thing. Might someone help?
