boot & reboot

when starting, the computer boots into the safe screen. when choosing " start in safe mode" a list of drivers scrolls, then machine reboots into the same safe screen. When "start normally" it reboots into the same safe screen with a count down timmer from 29 seconds. Then reboots into same safe screen. Any ideas? Thanks.

It Win XP right? Have you tried a repair? Drop you XP CD in and look for the repair screen that will pop up eventually.
