I just recieved a preassembled kt7-raid w/128 mushkin rev2 and pretested thunderbird @1050+. I switch the machine on and only the fans come on. There is no beep, no HD noise, no nothin, except fans and leds (the GW FOP38 dominating the noises ). Here is the _interesting_ thing. When I remove the HD, Floppy, and CD-ROM from the motherboard, all of them power up. When connected to the motherboard, they do not. Is this a video/cpu/mobo problem? I've reseated and reseated EVERYTHING. What the heck is wrong?!

you remove all of them, and what powers up? the rest that remains? could be a bad HD, or the HD and floppy cables were not plugged in right. or the ram could be in backwards.... give me more details

I remove the ata connection from the motherboard to the floppy / hd / cd and they all power up... if they are connected to it, they don't, which means something isn't passing power on the motherboard itself, I think.

What Power Supply do you have, Thunderbirds require a minimum of 250watts, 300watts is a good idea for overclocking and faster graphics cards.

What devices do you have plugged in, have you tried booting with HD/FD/Graphics only plugged in?

If you do have a PSU 250w+ then check all the connectors.

I have tried booting with nothing but the bare essentials: hd/floppy/vid ... still nothing. The power supply is the one that comes with the fong kai 603 (250w athlon approved). Right now I'm using an old s3 trio card to test the machine out, but I have a gfII in the mail. I guess my next step is to remove the whole setup and try again. I'll report what happens. Any other ideas as to what this might be?

Welp, I removed everything and tried again. No luck. Final conclusion = bad motherboard. And luckily, the small company that I bought it from is at comdex until wednesday... so no rma # for me until then :(
