Boot problems using RAID-0

Here's my config:

P4 2.4C
Samsung 256MB DDR400 RAM
IS7 (BIOS 1.5)
2 x IBM 45 GB drives (yes, my pair of GX75 are still running smoothly due to double 80mm fans blowing at them)
1 x Maxtor 60 GB drive
1 x LiteON 52x
Abit Ti4200
Sound Blaster Audigy

anyway, here's the problem:

-setup RAID-0 on the pair of IBM drives using ABIT Serillel2 adapaters
-installed Win2K Pro
-from first boot till now, it cannot find bootable device unless: have bootable CD (Win2K disc used) in CD drive AND Maxtor drive is on IDE-1 master.
-the system will ask if I want to boot from CD, I don't press anything, then it'll boot from the RAID-0
-if no bootable CD in drive, it'll just say directly no bootable device.
-if boot CD is in drive, but I take away the Maxtor drive, also cannot boot from the RAID-0

I am pretty sure I have the settings in the BIOS correct, and I also tried IDE detect delay to maximum setting, still no use.
so everytime I turn on computer, I need to make sure my Win2K pro CD is in the drive.
This problem exists regardless of overclock or not.

Please advise on how to fix the problem.
