boot problem

I went through and cleaned by box today, and now when I hit the power button, it shuts down very quickly. In looking at the post errors codes on the motherboard, it seems like it fails around 03h which is listed as "Initial Superio_Early_Init switch" and I'll be damned if I know what that even means 🙂 The system doesn't even flash the Video card's boot on the monitor, so I can't even access the BIOS properly. It just shuts off.

I did unseat nearly everything to wipe dust down and air the case out, and I did reapply AS to my CPU/HSF, but otherwise, I only recently added some RAM and that didn't seem to cause any inital problems. It was just time to clean stuff out =/

Could this possibly be a PSU issue? I'd really *love* to avoid replacing my motherboard =/ Any clue what a system shutdown around POST 03h on an AWARD bios would be?

Try resetting the CMOS.

Resetting the CMOS seemed to work. I had to go in and reset some BIOS options and such, but when I went to save'n reboot, the computer decided it wasn't a very good idea. It shut down very quickly every time I tried to take it up (tried maybe 3/4 times) and emitted an alternating high/low pitch beep from the case speakers until I removed the power cord.

I have a hunch it's a problem with my PSU, but I can't be sure. Either way, I'm going to switch to a lower power-needy HSF combo to see if that helps tonight. The delta/sk6 combo on the CPU is probably the newest change outside of the RAM, and removing the new RAM didn't work, soo...
