Boot problem with Corsair Dominator Memory

Hi everyone,
So my friend built this system a few months ago and he's been having problems ever since. Once the computer boots to windows its fine, but he gets errors on startup. Apparently, during the startup process he gets a blue screen flicker, with something about a memory error, and then the computer reboots. He says that after a few times, the computer will eventually make it to windows. Sometimes, he says it reboots IN windows, when loading the start menu, but then the next time, it will be fine. Its almost like the computer has to warm up! He also said he ran memtest, and it found errors, but I'm not sure what they are specifically. Any ideas on what the problem might be guys? If you need more detailed info, I'll see what I can squeeze out of him. Thanks in advance! Here are his system specs:

ASUS P5B-E
Intel E6600 C2D
2GB corsair dominator, DDR2 800
8800 gtx
600 watt power supply
500GB HD
WinXP SP2

The problem is that it's too damn expensive for what you're getting, that's what.

a) Check the settings in the BIOS against what the manufacturer says it needs; make sure the timings and importantly the vDIMM is set correctly
b) If after setting all these to default and rolling back any overclock he has, run memtest. If it errors, RMA.

He hasn't overclocked it all :-/ So he is going to check that other stuff.

Expensive is relative.
I have the same RAM. Set to 2.1/2.2 and loosen the timings to about 4-4-4-15 and if its there already, use 5-5-5-18

OK Great! Thanks for the replies guys, he will try changing the timings when he gets home. One more question though, what is the vDIMM? Is that the voltage?

Yes, different companies use different terms for RAM voltage, DRAMv, Vdimm, etc.

When you run Memtest on an ASUS board, be sure to disable Legacy USB Support in the bios as it conflicts with Memtest.
