I have a new build using Anandtech's recommendation for entry level AMD system:
Processor AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+
(2.1GHz 65W Brisbane 2 x 512KB L2)
Motherboard Foxconn A690GM2MA-8KRS2H
Memory Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2-800 PC2-6400
Operating System Microsoft windows XP SP2
I have the optical drives, floppy drive and display from my old system.
When I boot up, I get 3 succesive beeps and the post message CMOS settings wrong; press F1 to continue or DEL to enter CMOS and change settings.
When I try to change settings in CMOS and save changes the system will not re boot or post; I, in turn, clear CMOS and start over.
When I reboot and press F1, I go straight to Windows, with the only problem being the system(Windows) date and time is off.
Of course each time I boot I have to press F1.
Doing a little R & D, I thought updating the BIOS would do the trick.
I went through e-support.com, got the update, saved it to my desktop and flashed it using Foxconn's Live Update.
The bios is updated, yet I still get the message CMOS settings are wrong, CMOS Date/Time Not Set; Press F1 to Run Setup, press F2 for default values and continue.
Pressing F2, I can boot to Windows, however I can not subsequently reboot unless I clear CMOS.
I am at the point of saying exchange the motherboard.
Please help.
Thank you.
