boot order

got myself into a little pickle.

there are 2 windows instances on one pc. the boot order config file has the two listings of the two instances.

Now. i tried taking one of them out. so when the pc boots only one of the windows choices are up. i accidentally took out the wrong one and now only one of the versions of windows is only visible.

The trick is that the windows that is available doesn't boot explorer for some reason. The other windows does, but it is not visible in the OS choice menu during the boot.

I copied and pasted the original config in the my documents folder of the working windows, just can't get to it now.

HELP!

thx

now if this is vista i have no idea what it looks like. But for XP it should look something like this

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

have a look at that and the one you have and compare see if anything rings a bell..

yea see the problem is that i cant get to the boot order editor because i can't see the windows that is working. i can only get into the windows that is messed up. question is how do i get to the boot.ini file in a non functioning windows, or how do i display the windows in the os choices menu prior to the boot?

This is all on XP

it detects both of the windows installations, but in turn after i try to add the one i need, there is no confirmation, it just goes to d:windows

what should i ender for the load options?
