I went to the manufacturer's website ECS but can't find what one long beep (repeated about twice every 5 seconds means. It just won't post, but atleast it beeps. The manual adds nothing about these beeps. Could the cpu be dead?

Ok, I took out a stop watch and timed the beeps.
1.5 seconds of beep
4.5 seconds of silence

I just sent a request for support to ECS on their website but who knows when or even if I will get a reply.

If the beeps mean the cpu is dead can anyone recommend a cheap Athlon XP that can overclock from fsb 133 to 166 for my ECS above?

Resolved:
No beeps when cpu is pushed too far.
Long beaps cause memory wasn't seated properly.

Try mounting everything out of the case. I would also try a different video card. I've used 5 of the version 6.0 boards, and they're just as bad. Only 1 out of 5 posted every time.

If it beeps, then it's "doing" something, the CPU is running. Sounds like a "no RAM found" error to me.

edit: If you've solved it, please put a message at the END of the thread.

No beeps when cpu is pushed too far, just dead.
Long beaps because memory wasn't seated properly.

try removing and reseating memory - I just had a problem with no post and no video - no beeps, but when I reseated the memory chips, booted fine.
