Im trying to flash my bios to the lastest version, and im trying to boot in dos...

i forget what that oh magic F number key is.

Anyone?

thx 🙂

to boot windows in "DOS" mode it is F8 (Acutally this just boots you to safe mode with the DOS prompt) ......... BUT if you are flashing, you don't want to boot this way.

you need to make a bootable floppy and boot to that to put your system in pure DOS mode for flashing.

An easier way is to put a blank floppy into your computer..

go to 'My Computer' and right-click on the floppy drive.

Then select format and choose to 'create an MS-DOS startup disk'.

after the format, copy the flash utility and new BIOS onto the floppy. (you will probably need to extract the file you downloaded to a folder on your computer and then copy all those files, except the original download.) to your floppy.

now you can boot on the floppy and flash.

(Check the website where you downloaded the BIOS from... it has instructions for all of this.... you need to read them!)

i did check the website, there was no read me in either of the files (the bios and the loader).

So i downloaded the manual and the manual said to boot up in dos and to run a command.

Anytime!

hope it all goes smoothly for you. (don't forget to clear your CMOS after the flash and then set it up fresh)
