Boot Hang-Up

I just got me a brand new computer. I really suck with computers, but I like playing games ;-)

I have Windows XP on it - original version, not a copy.

I just got the machine and for 2 days it worked well. However, now it constantly freezes during the progress screen part of boot-up (the moving blue bar stops moving). Often it will eventually boot - like in a few hours lol.

It does boot in safe mode - but I don't know what to do after that.

It worked fine for the first 2 days I had it and now BAM! it is screwed :(

Can anyone walk me through a few basic measures that might help me fix things myself before I have to find an English-Speaking computer tech (I teach English in Korea).

*Specs*

E6700
P5W DH Deluxe
Creative X-Fi
2 x HIS ATI x1950XTX GPUs in crossfire
150 GB W/D Raptor

**Clues**

1. There is some program called Musci Match Jukebox that crahed a few times, I tried to remove it using windows add/remove programs - then I deleted it. But now it is back in the remove/add programs list even though it has no files (they were deleted) and it won't remove.

2. Trying to find the right ATI drivers the guy who set-up my system (works too far away to call him again) changed ATI drivers 4-5 times and never used any driver cleaner programs - just add/remove from windows.

Any help on this would be great - thanks.

yeah tried that but no dice.

Maybe I need to do a windows reinstall - not so bad since it is brand new and I don't have anything important.

But wouldn't I have to have the computer recognize all my hardware again and load drivers for every piece of hardware - again

*vid cards + crossfire them
*video drivers
*X-Fi
*X-Fi drivers
*Motherboard and remote control
*Speaker set-up
*keyboard + drivers
*mouse + drivers

If you re-install wiondows do you have to do all of that???

As I said it was only booting in safe mode.

So I booted in safe mode and I did a check disc on E: and C: (my 150GB drive seems to be partitioned).

E: checked out okay but it said it could not check C: (apparently the booting drive) right away. It said it would perform the check on next reboot.

So I reboot and as normal it stalls on the progress screen - so another reset and it brings up safe reboot option. This time however it goes to the black screen with text like normal in safe reboot where it tells me all the drivers it isn't loading - but now it stalls there. But HDD is whirring away - I think it is doing that scan disc thing maybe. But I left it for 2 hours and it was still there so now either way I reboot it freezes and I just have to cut the power to make it turn off.

I tried again before work today and exact same thing. Even if I wanted to re-install windows and format C: I don't know how if it keeps not even letting me boot in safe mode. Do I need to create a boot disc? I don't even own a floppy. Can I use original windows CD to make a boot disc?

For a guy that "sucks with computers" sure picked the wrong system to buy - a crossfired conroe on a P5WDH built by some private party far away. The system is so dependent on user know how, its hard to know even where to begin.
The three things most important you didnt even mention - RAM, PSU, heatsink (temps)
Then you say you have an app that you dont seem to be able to completely delete - it come back (virus?)
Tho some programs stay in add/remove even after you remove them, and you can manually delete the entry.
You are going to have to go to http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums (Intel) and spend the next year reading - lol :p
