Boot from RAID ? Can i do that ?

Recently I just bought another WD 120GB 8mb version, so im thinkin about raid 0 it.
But the thing is i already have two maxtor 80gb raid0 on primary spot already ,
is it safe for me to put them in secondly spot, as in just unplug the cable and plug into second spot ?
And if i would be able to do that, can i creat a raid 0 with my 120gb and boot from raid ?
would that offer me faster performance than my current setup with just 120gb on normal ide ?
also would there be any performance gain as far as when im recording CD/burning DVD, accessing data ?
because my computer get very lag when im burning stuffs...

thx!!

You can boot only 1 RAID 0 config. The WD's will give better performance then the Maxtors but not use the 8MB cache to it's full benefit like in single IDE config, however , the RAID will perform better.

why it will not use the full benefit of the 8mb ? I know i can only boot up 1 RAID 0 config
but im just thinking if i can switch the primary raid which is the maxtor HD config into the secondly so i can put WD into the 1 slot of the Raid and use the WD to boot ..

Dunno why (maybe RAID the Hardware/Software)...it's just a theory I and others have as I've tested the set-up vs the IBM GXP60's with 2mb cache and saw/noticed little difference.

I guess I'm not understanding what you want to do...Use a Single WD to boot off of RAID AND have a the Maxtors set in RAID to Boot?...If you notice in the BIOS you can choose to boot of of SCSI/RAID but then in the RAID set-up you must choose which HD config to Boot from....If you set-up the single drive as IDE, then the RAID 0 not be on...1 or the other as I understand it.

Sorr for the confusion... wat i try to do is move my maxtor RAID 0 setup from Primary RAID into the Secondly RAID,
So i can use my two WD 120SE make it another RAID 0 setup and put them on Primary RAID and boot from them,
I did see the option of to choose boot drive from RAID SETUP, but then I was just wondering if I would have enough performance gain
by doing it ? As in mulit-tasking such as CD-burning etc.. and also my main concern is that if unplug my old raid 0 setup from the primary raid and plug them into the secondly raid, well my array be destory or messed up ?

When I change RAID (assuming that's what you want to do)...I Ghost my RAID to 1 large IDE HD, set-up the new HD's then Ghost back. It's easy this way and always give's me a back-up if my RAID fails. The WD's will give you better performance then the Maxtors but if you use the Maxtors as the mirror drives along with the WD's, you will lose Gigabytes(The Raid configs off of the smallest set-up) and also perfomance (0+1 is slower). performance gain is mostly benefited by multimedia apps and disk reading

man... how do i backup 160GB of shiets......
You can do it various other ways (ie. compress the data, put some on DVD, CD's, save the registry,) and the 160gig's more then likely not full so Ghosting would only take the data size towards the process of transfering to 1 nother HD. No matter what, I would never use/have 1 puter without having my data backed-up ESP. RAID 0 .

im doing 2 WD RAID0 and 2 maxtor RAID 0 ...that's wat i try to do
The only way you can do this is to stripe all four together (if the HD's are compatible) which would 320gigs as you can not have 2 seperate RAID 0's off the Card/MoBo.
