Hey guys..

Newbie here :) Ive got a question, Ive this system with a Asus P5ND2-SLI Deluxe mobo, and a harddisk atm running Windows XP Professional. Now, I want to install Linux as my second OS, thus dual-boot.

I want to get a external harddisk where my Linux OS will be installed. Thus, my question is, whether my mobo supports booting from external hard disks? Ive checked the BIOS(version 0708), it supports booting from removable devices (floppy drives). So.. does that mean that, there wud be no way for my mobo to allow booting from external hard disks??

Thanks a lot for the advice!:)

If the BIOS can boot from a removal devices, then there is a pretty good chance that it will boot from an external hard drive. You have to try it out. However, be careful where you install linux or else you might accidentally erase your Windows partition/drive.
