If anybody could give me some help with an issue I have, I would really appreciate it.

I just recently upgraded my motherboard, CPU, PSU, and heatsink. After the hardware installation, I booted up the pc only to receive a blue screen error when it tried to load Vista. In the BIOS, it recognizes the new hardware. It recognizes all my SATA drives. I have the OS drive in SATA1 and my secondary in SATA2. It just won't load Vista. I get a Windows load error where it says to use the Windows Boot disc since there has been a hardware change since last Windows boot sequence. I don't have the boot disc. Is there anything I can do?

My new upgrade:

ASUS P5Q Pro
E8400
Thermaltake 750W Modular PSU
Zalman Heatsink

Can somebody help??????

When you replace the motherboard you pretty much have to do a fresh install of windows. See Windows is tied directly to your mothrboard. Its the one peice of hardware that can't be changed out without reinstalling windows. I think you got the BSOD because it wasn't a fresh install and when the system tried to load the motherboard drivers it hit a problem since the drivers that are installed are not the ones for your new board. So pop that HDD into another system and back up the information. Then put it back into the system and reinstall windows.

More specifically the northbridge, you can usually switch between motherboards that have the same chipset with minimal problems (new drivers usually). But switching to a different chipset or upgrading it has a very low chance of still working, there was a thread about switching between chipsets without a re-format but it usually ended up corrupting the info on the hd anyways.
