boot drive from pci sata?

i just got a 160GB seagate 7200.9 drive. I'm wondering if using it as my new boot drive off the pci based silicon image controller will cause loss of performance. HDTach reports that it is indeed quite a bit faster than my current drive (80GB WD caviar). but i'm still wondering if the pci-based contorller will slow things up. any input?
thanks
