I need to re-install an old machine with Win95, but I need to boot from diskette with support for the CDROM. I used to have a diskette with the couple of statements needed in config.sys and/or autoexec.bat, but it is gone.

Can anybody give me a hand with what I need to have in these control files for succesfull boot with access to the IDE CDROM?

You need to load MSCDEX in your config.sys, but I don't remember all the parameters for it... once you load that, you should be able to access the drive. You can also get Win95 on floppies (did it once, very painful...)

Normally if you make a boot disk nowadays on a 95/98/ME system, shouldn't it have CDROM support on there?
