Boot disk without floppy? GRRR!

I have to flash my DVD-Rom drive's firmware and it uses a DOS only firmware flasher.. I don't have a floppy drive though.. I tried making a boot CD but the first thing nero asks for is for me to enter my boot disk in drive A.. I also tried to format my USB flash memory stick but the MAKE BOOTABLE option is grayed out.. Any other options? I'm currently using winXP

Even nero asked you for boot disk in A:/, you could still set it to use the image file on your hard disk. I always use a 2.88MB boot disk image to make bootable CD although I have no floppy drive.

Really? where can I get a bootable image file? Thanks!

I made that 2.88M image myself. Using google searching boot disk, you can find some websites. Be sure to download the image file like "boot.img", not "boot.exe".

If you want, I can mail my image to you as long as your mail box is big enough.

yes, do download a win98se image from bootdisk.com, and use that an the image in nero. make sure you have floppy emulation enabled, and not HDD.

place the flashing program and firmware files on your HDD in a known place and flash .

may be worthwhile to use a cdrw and not waste a CDR. if you do use a CDR, put some extra stuff in there for recovery purposes in case you need to do some maintenance and stuff.

if you need help, PM or email me. i can make one for you in nero's nrg format, bootable CD image that is.

What if his partition is NTFS? Place the bios file on hard disk, a Win98 boot disk cannot access that partition. What I do is using Winimage add the bios file to the boot disk image file, just like a bootable floppy. 🙂
