Boot disk that reads NTFS?

BD2003

Lifer
The only reason I havent switched over to NTFS is because I cant find a DOS boot disk that can read NTFS. I dont have a tape backup drive, so whenever I want to clean install, I manually deltree program files, windows etc...works like a charm. But if I switch to NTFS, how will I be able to do this? Obviously the win98 and Winme boot disks wont be able to read the file system, and I'm pretty sure the set of 4 win2k boot disks doesnt give you a command prompt. Anyone out there know how to pull it off?

Well the ntfsdos ones that have write capabilites arent free. I need freeeee! Or is read only sufficient to delete things?

"Or is read only sufficient to delete things?"

No Read Only means just that you can read but not alter.

There is a tool around the web that lets you reset passwords on Win2k machine with a bootdisk. It uses linux to write to the SAM files. I know it is possible with a Linux bootdisk but where to get one with NTFS support is a little beyond me.

I doubt its of much use, but you can get a linux bootdisk that can mount NTFS read/write (the writing is "experimental" and may blow away your data, I hear). lot of work, but it might do what you need
