Boot disk for NTFS with CD-ROM support

I'm having problems installing WinXP on a friends computer (yes, it's a legal copy through a license agreement through work and MS).

Basically whenever I run the install, once it gets to any files in the \i386 directory, it can't find them. So, I want to boot off a floppy and copy the \i386 directory to the hard drive. Actually, I'll probably copy the entire CD to the HDD so I can install off the HDD.

Anyone know how to make a boot disk for this?

Thanks

Unlike NT4, installing XP through DOS.exe like Winnt.exe will not work.
You will find some dll (mainly the cdrom.sys) cannot be copy or some kind of error

The only way to bypass this problem is to install XP through the CDROM BOOT, or
go to Microsoft.com and find the Window XP (professional or Home Edition) Boot Disc Maker!

Try Madboot(Madboot.com), but I think the current version only supports reading from NTFS drives, not writing to them.

Why not use FAT32? Sounds to me like you have a bad windows XP CD.

Good luck,
-Isaiah

Actually, you can install Windows XP from dos, just like windows 2000 or NT.

Just go into the i386 folder & type "Winnt"

Download Madboot and find out, I have installed windows XP many times using Madboot(Madboot).

Prefer to use the windows XP CD, because it seems like its faster then with Madboot, but does work just fine without booting from the CD or using four XP boot disks.
