Boot cd for bios update for XP

I have been searching the web all over for applications tocreate a bootable cd so I can update the 258ka5 bios. (uniwill amd 64)

nothing is working, or I need to buy programs.

is there any simple set of instructions to create a bootable cd? that works?

thanks in advance.

I've done the google search - I have followed about 4 different methods for creating a XP bootable disc to upgrade the bios - and none of the disc's will work, dos get frozen onthe bootup, or there are screens of error codes.

I don't have a floppy drive. The only alternative is to see if they still sell USB floppies and use nero to make a boot cd from the floppy.

is windows working on the box? install the live update program that most MB's have and update the bios within windows.

i do it all the time no matter what MB i have used

As mentioned, you can update from Windows. But, I wouldn't unless I had to!

If you have Nero, you can create a bootable CD with it. You don't need a boot image for that since Nero has a standard boot image already. Just start a Nero project and select a bootable CD and choose the default option for the image and add the BIOS update file and executable on it and burn to a CD-RW.

The problem that sometimes you face is with some BIOS update utilities that do not run if the media is not writable (like a bootable CD).
