Finally moving up in the world. Recommend me a site or two that will take advantage of 1.5Mbps download speed???

I decided to go with cable first. I know pretty much what I would get with DSL, but with cable I have that offbeat chance of getting higher burst speeds. Not to mention that it's a few bucks cheaper. I'll try it for a few months and if I'm unhappy with the service I'll switch over.

ffmcobalt: Good Gawd, that's IS insane speed! Where did you find these tests? And what kind of connection do you have? I have cable and when downloading a large video file, I get about 280-300k/ps steady download speed. Granted, it's a damn site better than the 1.2k/ps on the 28.8 modem I was using prior to getting cable, but DAMN!, 3M/ps?:Q

???

I dunno, what are you looking for!?

Everything I've been avoiding for the past two years because my connection was too slow. Movies, mp3s, anything that would ordinarily have taken me days to download. I have 100GB of drive space and I have a need to fill it. :D

ATTBI offers "Ultralink" or "Premium" service which is capped at 3mbps down and 384kbps up.

DSLReports.com for a speed test
CNET.com for another speed test

Try downloading a linux iso or a service pack from the microsoft site. You want something at least 100MB :D

I'm only getting about 600kb/s right now, but I haven't done any of the tweaks to my system yet. Not perfect, but I've picked up Kazaa Lite and I'm making a list of things I'd like to check out.

Having an awesome connection has atleast one downside. What happens if you leave WinMx or Kazaa accidently open overnight without any bandwidth restrictions enabled? Check out the last line.

I'm running 10Mb/s down and 6.66Mb/s up. Connection type is an Elastic Networks Etherloop xDSL modem (Elastic Networks is no longer around; they sold out to someone else and I forget their name).

I turn off uploading if I'm not using it.
