Gee Cliffy boy, do I detect a ltttle anger there?
<< OU didn't even come close to playing the caliber of team it should have had to play for the National Title! >>
Hmmm....let's see.......This season, the Sooners were No. 19 in the preseason poll, easily won their first four games and then faced perhaps the toughest October schedule in the nation - No. 11 Texas, No. 2 Kansas State and No. 1 Nebraska. Not a problem as the Sooners pounded the Longhorns 63-14 in Dallas, beat the Wildcats 31-14 at Manhattan, Kan., and shut down the Cornhuskers 31-14.
<< Hell if you added up all other ACC team wins it probably wouldn't equal FSUs win total. >>
Well, let's see....FSU was 11-1 this year and you seriously don't think the other teams in the ACC don't add up their wins to 11? ROFL!!! The next two teams, Clemson and GA Tech, were 9-2 for the year. True, FSU did get beaten by Miami, but they beat #10 Florida, #17 GA Tech, and #16 Clemson. Admittedly, the ACC is not a football powerhouse conference; basketball is their forte. But such lame comments as you've made shows your lack of thinking or reasoning.
You've got a team, FSU, coming in supposedly one of the most potent offenses in the country....which led the nation in total offense (549.0 yards) and passing offense (384.0 yards), while ranking third in scoring offense (42.4 points per game).
Then they get held scoreless in the first half and only keep from getting shut out on a safety from an errant snap of a ball. True, Snoop wasn't playing, but I fault FSU for not ensuring he passed his coursework. But if FSU completely depended upon ONE guy to win, then they absolutely deserved to lose........it is a team sport after all.
I'm no OU fan, but gotta admit.....FSU stunk up the stadium last night. Weinke couldn't hit the broad side of a barn passing last night. A forgettable finale for a memorable career. That was Chris Weinke?s Orange Bowl.
Like Weinke said last night after the game: ?If you watched us tonight,? Weinke said, ?we didn?t belong in the top 20. Maybe Oklahoma and Miami really were the top two teams.?
