Books you want to see as movies........

My vote is for either Stranger in a Strange Land, or The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.
OR, a proper version of Starship Troopers.

I think it should go without saying that I mean Mini-series and not "2 hours of Hollywood crap", but some of you might get into an argument about it, so I need to make sure you understand.

Oh, and maybe Chris Bunch's Seer King/Demon King/Warrior King series. They could do a 3 hour trilogy like Lord Of The Rings and it would be OK.

Something I'd really like to see is Peter Hamiltons Naked God series, but that would be too awesome for anyone to actually produce.

Thief of Always by Clive Barker.

I had dreamed l of this since I read the book when I was young. But now I would be to worried that hollywood will fuck it up. this goes for any book I would have loved to see made into movies when I was younger. I think the mini series works better to adapt books.

Steven Pressfield novel.
I'd personally prefer The Afghan Campaign, but Gates of Fire would be good too.
It would by very nice to see a historically (mostly) accurate movie in ancient times.

Movie(s) based on Robert E. Howard's El Borak stories
More of the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett
Movie(s) based on Dick Marcinko's Rogue Warrior books
More Dune movies
The Dark Tower series by Stephen King

any of Christopher Pike's YA novels. they were all such great teen slasher/mystery reads, it really boggles my mind that none of them have been made into movies (not counting movies that basically ripped off the plots of his books like "I Know What You Did Last Summer")

The book is great, but any kind of movie would be horrible. Think of all the kid actors they'd have to have. They'd never find that many good ones.

With right mood, post processing, great script, and cinematography, kids can be FUCKING scary.

Ender's isn't a horror, but someone smart can pull this off.

it would be funny to see Ender's Game made into a movie considering what a colossal bigot Orson Scott Card is. I wouldn't mind seeing that get some more press. heh.

I used to read lots of Christopher Pike and RL Stine books from the Scholastic Book Club at school. I think we got brownie points or something if we purchased lots of crap, thats probably why the teachers were always pushing them on us.

How is he a bigot?
he advocated an armed revolution against the government of California if Prop 8 didn't pass.

"Laws against homosexual behavior should remain on the books, not to be indiscriminately enforced against anyone who happens to be caught violating them, but to be used when necessary to send a clear message that those who flagrantly violate society's regulation of sexual behavior cannot be permitted to remain as acceptable, equal citizens within that society." -Orson Scott Card

"How long before married people answer the dictators thus: Regardless of law, marriage has only one definition, and any government that attempts to change it is my mortal enemy. I will act to destroy that government and bring it down, so it can be replaced with a government that will respect and support marriage, and help me raise my children in a society where they will expect to marry in their turn."
