Books to read before end of high school

its not bad, not some of the ones i would put on there, and some of those authors i would recommend other titles by them, but i guess its ok...if you read those books, you're wayyyy ahead of almost everyone else

I don't know of any college that has a required reading list. The honors program at my college did, but not the general college itself.

If you're looking for good books to read to get you prepped for college, though, I'd recomend the freshman-level classics (Steinbeck, Hemmingway, Plath... maybe throw in some Alice Walker and Toni Morrison).

I wouldn't recomend War and Peace... but if you really want to read it, I could give you some helpful tips 🙂

I'd say thats a pretty good list of books to read.

In addition to the books on the list. If its called a classic, its probably worth
a read.

pretty good. the only thing that worries me is that there are a few books on there that I read in college, and I know if I had read them on my own (without a professor to provide guidance and classmates to discuss the books with), I would have hated them and would have been turned off from the classics.

It took me 3 professors and several years to get over my hatred of Russian literature, and I still hate James Joyce a little because of that 😉

anything before 1940's is good. when the GI bill passed, everyone went to college and the quality became trash.

yeah. god knows, all those post-WW2 writers are all trash
