I'm moving and I've got thousands (no exaggeration) of books. I've sold a bunch on ebay, made a little money, not tons. Haven't tried half.com yet, since I sell a lot on ebay. Just random books, the stuff that people acquire over the years.

Opinions wanted: what should I do with the things?

Do you have a list of them all? If so that would make it easier to sell them. If you don't want to go through the work of doing that, consider donating a portion of them and sell the rest.

Set a timetable to sell what you can - anything left, give to the local library.

I'd say sell if you can and donate what you can't/don't want to sell and use it as a tax write off.

Another place to sell would be Amazon.com they always have tons of used books for sale there.

You might try selling groups of them on a similar subject. For instance, you could take a filing box and put 35 paperback sci-fi books in it and sell it as a group.

If you have a list, post it or a link in FS/FT forum, set a low price, and set a 3 or 5-book minimum to make the time to package them worthwhile.

Libraries might take them as donations for their book sales. Or if there are Half_price Books stores in your area you could take in a few bags of books for store credit. Trashing the books would be a shame.

Donate them to charity, an adult literacy program, or just haul them in to a used book store for credit, even if you don't plan to buy more. Just please, don't trash them. :(

donate the books sound good to me. well i usually have a couple textbooks from each quarter, but i dont think its a good idea to donate them. first of all, its at least 100 dollars a piece, and i am very pissed off at my college that keeps on changing its textbooks with newer edition. guess wut, if you have a friend taking the same course last year already and would like to borrow his textbook, chances are the course required newer edition. As a matter of fact, you will need the newer edition since HW maybe assigned directly from the book. Although the entire book is different, the 99% of the material are exactly the same except in different order. Well, I really dont think that the newer edition was a necessary. Anyways, I rather sell it on ebay, and hopefully get a good portion of the money back. If I want to help the world and poors, I can donate some money. That's probably a little more helpful
