Books for learning Linux?

I have used Linux on and off for the past few years but I still know relatively nothing about it. I am comfortable with the GUI and not scared of the command line, but I dont really know how to use it. Are there any good books that cover linux from the beginner/intermediate level up? At the moment I am using Redhat 9, but only because it seems to be the only distro that has native support for the SI3112 SATA controller. I plan on installing Mandrake 9.2 when the ISOs come out. I would prefer a generic book because I will probably change distros and play around with them.

I would recommend Running Linux, I think I have the 4th edition. You'll also learn a lot from just searching online too. I would also recommend finding some forums that are specific to your distro. I know the Gentoo forums are awesome and any problems I've encountered, I can find an answer to there. 🙂

Another book that you might want to get is the Bash book of O'reilly it's pretty good about teaching you more in depth the shell and more tricks of it.
