No, I'm not getting married just yet, but if my GF and I have a song, it's "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds.

I was at a wedding recently thinking about which songs we choose to play at ours, when the thought occurried to me: Maybe I should perform our song myself! Then, I thought: How cool would it be to actually have Ben Folds perform at our wedding!? I think my GF would die if he were to perform "The Luckiest" for us.

I know some musicians will perform at private weddings, for a fee. Assuming money isn't a concern, how would I go about booking Ben Folds for my wedding? I had a poke around his website, but can find no contact details.

Yeah, I've thought about trying to get Cake or They Might Be Giants for ours, but it seems the cost will be at LEAST 10-20,000.

Chances are you'll have to schedule around their already-booked tour dates, and the price will be a lot higher if they have to make a special trip to wherever you are having the wedding.

They do play colleges, so it's not as though they command $200,000 and up for a concert.

If you're fortunate enough to be able to book a date where they don't already have a show, and they are already playing within a day's travel of your location, you might be able to pull it off if you have the money.

My guess is $30,000.

BULLSHIT, screw those parasites.
Go to POLLSTAR, or get the real mag. In there you will find booking information.
Better still go through the fan club. USUALLY, acts will have a "corporate" price and a "casual" price, which will be miles apart.
I suggest going through the fan club to see if it's even feasible.

Grabow are nothing but "corporate" bookers who will be taking a 20 to 30 per cent cut of the action.
Stay away from them.

PLUS the cost of production, ie permits, sound, lighting , generators (bcause the pole transformer will probably not handle it, food, transportation, lodging, to name a few of the often overlooked expenses.

< knows a bit more than the average Joe about producing events.

this reminds me of the time Smithers persuaded Tom Jones to perform for Marge and Mr Burns

Though for someone like Ben Folds who needs a piano and a mic, it should be a lot more affordable.

More importantly, are any of us invited?

(and will there be some sort of fashion bouncer at the door for those of us failing to meet the minimum dress code?)

A friend married the daughter of an art dealer and owner of one of the MLB teams. He had Bon Jovi play acoustic at their wedding. It was ridiculous.
