Hyatt @ Arlington VA, FWIW.

One rate has a single king sized bed, $89.

the "petit king" is only $69.

For $20 difference, there must be something besides it being a smaller bed. What am I missing here? I've never even heard of a petit king sized bed.

I hate calling these hotels because whoever answers almost always speaks very poor english. Anyone know the difference?

Thats it?
So how big then is a "petit king" bed? Bigger or smaller than say, a Queen size?

My guess is that the bed=the room. As in no free floorspace whatsoever.

That'd be kinda cool though.

Is it a petite king bed or just petite king room? My guess would be it's a king sized bed still, and just a smaller room.

I think they mean the rest of the room is a bit smaller. Perhaps without a sitting area. It has nothing to do with the bed itself.

That's what I'm thinking. Usually you have a choice of a king or two doubles. I'm guessing a "petit king" is a Queen size bed.

We don't need a sitting area. We're just going to be going down for 1 night.

Yeah, that's my guess is that it's sans sitting area. Just king sized bed, night stand, etc. Smaller room.

It's a smaller room (SUPER SMALL).

Not sure on that hotel, but I stayed at the Hyatt in ATL years ago and was put in a petite room.
IT SUCKED! Super small (no room to move around) and the bathroom was a joke. My shower at home was bigger than this bathroom.

I went to the frontdesk and got a room change.

Book this and you will be sorry (post how painful it was).

It gives the woman less room to run.

Seriously it's a king sized bed in a basic hotel room. You more than likely will have about 3' around the bed and a bit of room at the entryway.

Rooms like this are great if you are just looking to get some sleep (or sleep with someone) while traveling through an area and don't want to risk a dive or spend a bunch of cash on room features you won't be using.

from this hotel site: here
$155 - $165 Sun thru Thur
the lower rate is for the Petite King rooms which are less square footage - see photo left or the rooms with 2 queen beds. The higher price room is larger and contains a King bed and pull out couch rather than the 2 chairs in photo

*confirmed* :)

thanks you 2, i appreciate it. i couldnt find any info on it at all. like i said we're just going down to DC for 1 night(red wings/capitals game and maybe some sights, depending on the weather), so we won't be in the room much at all. just need a bed and a bathroom...nothing fancy.
