Booked a Flight using Orbitz.com - Its a request, not a reservation?

So earlier tonight we booked a flight using Orbitz.com. A few minutes later, we get an e-mail saying our Flight Request had been recieved, and would need 24 hours to confirm a reservation from the airline.

Is that normal? I've used Orbitz.com in the past, and when you booked the flight, you got your reservation. None of this requesting a reservation crap...

Yeah, the email is a fake. They're just waiting 24 hours to go "JUST KIDDING HAHA!" and then tell you the reservations were made instantly.
