Trapped at mall while the wife is getting a haircut. Killing time at a bookstore.

Any recommendations? Looking for stuff along the lines of Neuromancer.

Neuromancer was book 1 of a trilogy, so try the other two. Or maybe Infoquake by Louis Edelman

Looking for science fiction. I'll save fantasy for another day. :)

The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins ?

That was my last book purchase made while just browsing a book store with no intent. I haven't bought a book just to buy a book in a long time.
Bought it at an airport book store when I had a 3 hour or so layover.
The bright shiny cover with the large print "THE GOD DELUSION" caught my eye. :D

Most recent non-textbook purchase that is fiction was "Gates of Fire" by Steven Pressfield. Damn good read, about the Battle of Thermopylae. It's required reading for my ROTC course this quarter, which is a new concept in of itself (outside of official military reading, we've never had things assigned to read).

Nemesis by Chalmers Johnson isn't ilike Neuromancer, but it begins with Ne and is better for you.

Try the Nightside series (Simon R Greene). Great books, entertaining, read quick, and always something even stranger/wierder around the next corner.

Or you could always go pick up the old Shadowrun books, some of those series were awesome. Get Never Deal with a Dragon if you want to get started there.

How much science-fiction do you need? How advanced must the technology be?

Have you read Brave New World?
