I have a really good idea for a book. It got good feedback from people i tlaked to. So i've looked into how to submit ideas to get funding to actually write the book

If u submit the idea, what stops the company from saying no and then using the idea? Any know anything about this stuff?

You may try searching for literary agencies. However, unless you're an established writer, it's doubtful that you will received any money prior to writing the book.

I would know what funding is required to write a book. Do you have to invest in electrons to show up as words on your screen while you type it?

I think he meant to get the funding to take time off work or school to write the book. Do you think Stephen King works at McDonalds between the books?

Stephen King, no, but plenty of people write books in thier spare time. Do you think Bill Gates took a leave of abscence at MS to write his book?

Let's not forget how much money BG has, it's a pretty safe bet that UDT89 is not quite that rich, otherwise he wouldn't be searching for funding.

Yes, Bill Gates has lots of money.. .that's not the point. The point is that writing a book takes a lot of time, and pretty much no money at all.

Do you think UDT89 has less free time than bill gates, and that's why he needs to quiot his job to write a book?

I completely agree with you, but looks like he wants to make it a full-time job and thus looking for money.

What are you writing? There's different ways of doing it depending on whether it's fiction or trade book stuff.

Uh, generally you have to already have the book finished in order to even start talking to a publisher/agent. There is no 'we'll give you money to write this book' unless it's highly specialized in nature. For fiction? Forget about it. Finish it first.

And yes, Stephen King DID work as a teacher while he was writing his first book. He doesn't have to work anywhere NOW, but he did when he first started.

Book publishers don't buy ideas, they buy manuscripts.

Maybe you're thinking of Hollywood.
