I thought there where rules against monopoly's in the US? There's no competition, they basicly own it all and can charge accordingly....
That's why god invented lobbyists and lawyers - to help quiet and ignore those who might say "Hey, isn't there a law against that?"

"Well that depends on your definition of the word 'law'. Also, here's $10k that says you don't care about this anymore."

Yea tickets in Seattle were $37.50, with various fees and taxes, $52. Sold out now....those same upper level tickets are going for $150-$250 on stubhub already!

Kinda makes me question how much I really want to go...a few rows up in my section there's tickets going for $220.

I purchased a pair of tickets to a local concert today.

Ticket price: $20 each
Local ticketbox surcharge: $1 each.

I could have gone to ticketmaster's site and paid an extra $6.75 per ticket.

I'm pretty happy about having the option to do an end-round on ticketmaster.

heh one thing i notice about these threads is that nobody ever defends ticketmaster.

is there any way to get ticketmaster on Al-Qaeda's hit list?

Yeah wat teh fuck? These peoples needs to workz for free.🙄
"Man those $3 service fees put me out of the game." But you'll gladly pay the $56 ticket you were gonna buy for something you could of seen for free a few months ago?

Too late

Yeah, they're a fucking crooked racket. I also won't go see shows that require purchases through ticketmaster.
how else do you freakin buy tickets to ANY event????

Speaking for myself, I don't. If I do, it's at the few events where I can buy the tickets directly from the venue either at the windows, through their own website, or over the phone. It helps that I really don't care for loud and crowded events anyway.

Or they can just charge a 50% markup on the ticket itself and not include any fees... that would remove pretty much all the complaints.

I think the reason they don't add it into the ticket price is because then they would have to share it with whoever gets a cut of the ticket price. As it stands now, I think the "convenience fee" is pure profit to Ticketmaster...

Wow. Guess you never heard of the little thing called a box office. Every venue has one that happens to sell tickets to the events they host. Consequently, that is why Ticketmaster will never be considered a monopoly.

I guess none of you ever experienced the "convenience" of a day long wait in line and the hope that you'd get decent tickets to your favorite band's concert.

except the fact that if it is any good, it will be sold out before you can buy tickets at the box office

Want to go see Conan O' Brien in Phoenix. Seats are $56.50. Was going to get tickets for the family but...

Fuck you ticketmaster! Only one convince charge per order should be allowed. $15 convenience charge per seat? Super lame. Facility charges sound bogus, too.

Ah well...

Maybe I can get the tickets somewhere else without BS charges?

Start your own ticket company and don't charge these fees?

I should just walk away from this thread... the meer mention of TicketMaster makes me want to punch infants.

Well...I ended up buying 4 tickets from ticket master. $300 for the fam to see Coco. Worth it though, I just hate paying $70 in BS charges to ticketmaster. Something needs to be done about them. Maybe I'll write Obama :awe:

Good lord, I was just looking for Melvins tickets and they want $31.00 a piece ($25 base price plus $6.00 convenience) then I saw I could buy them at a local record store for $21.00 each all in. Unbelievable, they even have the base price higher! Guess I should not be surprised. 🙄
