I bought one last month, and now just bought 5 more for gifts (and a backup for me :)), and I totally recommend it.

It uses 4AA batteries instead of the typical weak 2AA's in almost all other units like this. It's very effective for 'frothing' coffee drinks (once you learn the best angles etc.) and is even better for mixing hard-to-mix protein drinks. It can mix them 'lump-less' with minimal frothing in about 10 seconds, and is unbelievably easy to clean (just run it in a glass of water!)

I use it for these mostly, but also for scrambled eggs, for mixing cocoa/milk when making hot chocolate, and so on, which others that take 2AA's are too weak to do.

(as usual at amazon, >$25 counts for free shipping as well.)

Fyi, just in case, if you're thinking shakes, ie with ice cream, this would be over its head because it would be too thick/hard for the motor and disk it uses, which is only 3/4" in diameter. A plugin device/mixer is probably best for those, while this works best with just liquids etc where there is less resistance than what ice cream would create.

That uses a 'wisk' type disk and is only good for surface frothing, especially with its weak 2AA powered motor.
