Bones has really snuck some rampant advertising in.

Do you think the actors are embarrassed? Yesterday's show Bones said "Look I'm not tail-gating--adaptive cruise control". She was driving a prius. It then showed a couple of exterior shots of her driving around the capital. Then she spoke into her voice activated GPS. Later on in the show Sweets uses his iphone as a flashlight and says "I have other apps too, I can get song names..." and is cut-off. I presume on the next show they'll start talking about finance options. I find this weakens and whores the show. It's bad enough there are 17 minutes of commercials but now this.

Probably because I fast forward those 17 minutes. Fvck commercials.

Oh, near the end of the show for no reason the Prius started accelerating and when Bones hit the brakes nothing happened. Bazinga!

I watch it on Hulu so I get 3 minutes of commercial. Very good show, however, they keep forgetting whether Sweets is a Psychologist or Psychiatrist.

Not big on Bones. She can look ok but other times just doesn't do it for me. I like the asian chick though and also their boss is _very_ well maintained and wears ridiculous dresses at work.

I really don't want directors going out of their way to hide a car's brand but when a huge logo is thrust in my face in center-screen I wonder if they're more interested in the show or trying to pimp their client's product.

Are you serious? Bones>>>>> Angela.

product placement is nothing new, but it's getting pretty blatant. they used to just show the characters driving around in fords, now they're cutting to show us how cool sync is. i've never watched a character turn on the radio before and it not have something to do with the plot.

The irony.
True, the Avatar one was way over the top, way over.

Yeah, but at least they made it kinda funny/poking fun at geeks...and that tattooed chick was hawt.

All the product placements last night were kinda clever and amusing. Sweets starts geeking out and they cut him off. Bone's is being unintentionally pretentious about her car, which fits with her character.

WTF DID YOU JUST SAY? I am asking the mods for an insta-ban!

Despite being blatant I'll grant you it was well done, insofar as that's possible with blatant.

Who doesn't love Sweets? I don't mean "like that". Not much, anyway.

These shows aren't free to make. You can still hook up a set of powered rabbit ears and get it in HD for absolutely free, and people are fast forwarding through commercials now. I'd prefer to get a few groan inducing lines about how awesome Tide Fabric Softener is rather than the show has to slash its budget drastically.

I'm glad other people are on the fence about Bones. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd crawl naked over broken glass to fuck her, but in the Hollywood Pantheon she fluctuates a lot, sometimes being unbelievably hot and sometimes just being so-so. She's like the two-face from Seinfeld.

Bones is lame anyway.

Came out near the same time as House. Well, I've seen every House episode. I can't even make myself finish an entire episode of Bones.

Really? I watched the first season of House and semi-recently started watching Bones with my wife. I didn't continue watching House because I absolutely didn't care about a single one of the characters. Bones at least has more interesting character development/personalities/interactions happening.

Angela wears too much makeup or something. She looks like plastic.

I'll have to pay attention, Sweets is not an MD that's for sure.

She's half white so it doesn't really count...

Internet is free?!?! Not everybody has a dumb neighbor w/ unprotected wifi, so regardless of how you watch you're paying for it.

I watched Bones last night from an over the air broadcast. Not everyone pays for television service.

A couple of the most blatant examples I can think of:

In Blade: Trinity when they're using iTunes to generate playlists prior to killing some vampires, and they talk for a moment about them.

Terminator 3 and its Xenadrine product placement.

In cases like these, my reaction while watching the show is usually something like "ugh, really?"

Frankly the Bones and Toyota thing was obvious from the moment it started (I think it was in the 3rd season). I mean, really, an FBI agent with a truck is going to get a black Tahoe or Suburban, not a silver Toyota 4 Runner.

Yeah, but you're whining about a free OTA show that's suppose to entertain. I'm just bitching about your whining, regardless of how entertaining you think you might be. ;)

Next time I'm an extra on that show again, I'll tell them to cut that shits out.

I'm sure you were paying for your internet connection long before you could stream videos on hulu and would continue to pay for it even if you couldn't. So yes, it's effectively free because you're not incurring any additional cost that you wouldn't have paid otherwise.

Because of the free and relatively cheap content I can get streaming I've stopped paying for cable. It saves me some serious cash.

Anyways, for most people they can get Fox over the air so yes, it can be had for free.

That is all I could ask for, thank you!

Time Warner is on thin freaking ice with me. Not because of what they've done for me but because of what little they are offering. Hulu is now showing so much content I am not actually aware of any of the shows I like that I cannot find online--and legally (who would have known?!). In fact I think HGTV is the only thing we watch now that isn't easily findable online.
