Jon Bon Jovi went into the recording studio with exiled Iranian singer Andy Madadian to record a new version of Ben E. King's "Stand By Me." The video is intended to support the independence of the Iranian people at this time when the United States is about to celebrate Independence Day.
On the video Bon Jovi sings in Farsi for the first time ever. The recording was not designed to be sold. Rather, it is meant to be distributed online as a show of solidarity with the protesters. Check it out for yourself below.
Produced by the legendary Don Was in one afternoon, the video represents a new international call to freedom and unity. Was said,
"It wasn't intended to be on the Billboard charts, wasn't meant to be a hit record or even pressed on a CD. It's intended to be downloaded and shared by the Iranian people. The whole idea was to get it into Iran and tell them...to carry on, that the world is watching and we're with you."
May we all realize that we have entered into an age of freedom and abundance as the USA moves toward celebrating our own Independence Day. And may all people of the world be free to speak and sing their true songs.
