People disgust me. Classes are canceled and the police are on high alert. If this is a joke (which it most likely is), it isn't funny.

Midterms? Finals?
here's hoping they pick out the person and throw him in jail for a long time.

Unfortunate news, but classes are only cancelled in the buildings which were locked down and evacuated (7).

Major buildings for the IT area (math, physics, chemistry) all effected.

I didn't say they weren't major buildings. Just that classes at 7 buildings were cancelled, not all. It wasn't clear in the OP.

Ive never understood why people take bomb threats seriously (I mean, I understand why they HAVE to, but in all honesty, how many people do you actually think take them seriously). If someone were going to blow up the building, why would they tell everyone? I'm actually curious whether there has actually ever been a legitimate bomb threat called in at a school?

Either way, find the dumbass and lock them up for a long, long time.

they do take it seriously
i dont know if this is confirmed, but the VT killer Cho was reported to have called in a few bomb threats to test police response.

so even though there's a high chance that a bomb will not be located, there may be additional investigations required as a result

Yeah.. mostly my point is that it seems like there is too much media attention involved with bomb threats. It seems like 99% of the time the only reason someone called it in was to get attention. Obviously police have to take them seriously, but im willing to bet the number of bomb threats would drop about ten fold if they didnt get any media attention.

People that make threats for attention should be locked away for a long, long time.
