This is a consequence of tribalism.

There is no government military in place to squash these bugs, and so they are free to kill as many innocent people as they may reach. The solution is the formation of a military to go in and conquer Boko Haram's territory.

I suggest the locals get started.

Nigeria has a government military. Problem is if they send a small unit it gets routed, and because of sympathizers and the corrupt Boco Haram gets tipped off in the time it takes to assemble and transport a large unit. Civilian defense forces are a partial answer, but they tend to be poorly armed and can easily be overwhelmed by a large force. They can be better armed, but then there's the risk they will decide to go kill the people they don't like.

more liberal news whitewashing.

Why do they leave out the fact that this group is based in Islam? Afraid of being bombed maybe.

Heres a better story about this:

Ask David Cameron?

cameron.jpg
lol Ask David Cameron indeed, I'll TELL David Cameron. (And just so you know, that was Christiane Amanpour's sign, not Cameron's. I suppose he could have been a dick and told her "No, that's stupid" though.)

The Nobel Peace Prize winner I'll give a pass, since that's about all she can do. And as a bonus, her tweet did exactly as much good as did Michelle Obama's and David Cameron's. If there was any world doubt about where we stand on radical Islamic terror groups kidnapping and enslaving young girls, that's been cleared up.

I'll give you bonus points for consistency though. Demanding that we accept a frowny face tweet of "#bring back our girls" as an appropriate response to a horrific mass kidnapping is certainly right in line with your other arguments about Islamic terrorism.

Why am I not surprised that a lib like you would post these?

And what good have all these signs did?

It made the left; people like you, feel good. You feel like you did something. But its nothing but empty sloganeering.

Those people did little more then take 2 minutes to make a sign. Those signs changed nothing. The girls are still missing, and more people are dying.

You feel that voluntary use of illegal drugs is somehow the same thing as hundreds of young girls being kidnapped into slavery? The mind, she boggles at your drug warrior fervor.

What about when Boco Haram murdered an estimated 2,000 people in a terror attack - are you just waiting for the right time to relate that to music piracy? lol

You're really reaching to rescue a bad position. You're smarter than this. Michal tried to use the murder of 2,000 people to score a cheap political point and got called out.

True, but the point is that for the First Lady to hold up a "#bring back our girls" sign and tweet it is also scoring a cheap political point. I have no major problem with that - it's what politicians do, after all, and America cannot solve every world problem or even every horrific world problem. But what I DO have a problem with is the attitude that this is some kind of action or accomplishment. It is not. It is the very opposite thing to an action or accomplishment. It's a way of saying: "Yes, I acknowledge your problem, and it is horrific, but it isn't my problem and I can't solve it for you. But I'm still a nice person, see?"

Had she delivered an impassioned, stirring speech she might have actually changed some minds and maybe even materially changed the situation. Now, I don't think she HAS to do that, mind you. But let's not confuse taking a meaningful action, even a very minor one with no direct impact on the situation, with a two minute photo op.

And, other than anonymously whine about Muslims and their religion (and the president's wife), you've done what to accomplish anything positive?

I don't pretend to have done anything.

Obama thinks she has because she held up a sign

Liberals like you think she has, because she held up a sign.

Holding up a sign does nothing.

A lot of Nigeria's government agrees with them, and a lot of the remainder are too corrupt to be trusted. When the Nigerian army meets Boco Haram, like as not it's been the army running away. When Nigeria tries to mount a response strong enough to take them down, Boco Haram knows about it far enough in advance to melt away.

Cameroon has smoked a bunch of them though.

What's your source that a lot of Nigerias gov agrees with Boko Haram?
I've read that Boko Haram was born out of the Nigerian govs corruption, as in them screwing their people out of a lot of money
