Hi, trying to test out Boinc here and when i try to register or log in via their website to activate the acct , it gives me an error. Anyone know what it could be ? Would i have to create a new acct and would be stats be updated with my acct as well ? I registered for Seti this year by the way.

Was it in seti "classic" you registered this year? If so, you can't activate this account under BOINC, you must make a new account.

Error message was the acct was not found.
To answer Rattledagger, yes, i registered under Seti Classic this year.

Well, i couldn't bear waiting and i just created a new acct. Does anyone know if the stats from classic will transfer to BOINC ? Thanks guys.

For accounts created before 14.05.2004, they've already been transferred to BOINC, and the final "classic"-scores should be updated after "classic" have ended.

But, there haven't been any mentioning that will happen for accounts created after this date...

Anyway, all will start with zero cobblestones in BOINC anyway, it's just the "classic" score will also be displayed when looking on a user.

Okie, Thanks for the answers. One last question, Anyone know how to setup the preferences for Boinc so that it runs hard with minimal wasted resources. Some of the settings i have no idea what to set it for. Such as Graphics preferences : Select Custom to edit individual parameters. I rather have it set to none and just run via background but no such settings. Any help would be appreciated.

The correct team is
http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/team_display.php?teamid=30191

As for preferences, most of the time the default should work nicely, but for the general preferences, http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/prefs.php?subset=global
verify
"Do work while computer is in use?" (normally yes)
"Do work only between the hours of" (normally no restriction)
"Leave applications in memory while preempted?" Recommend to Select Yes, even if only runs one project.
"On multiprocessors, use at most" N processors. Remember HT is 2 cpu's.

"Connect to network about every" N days. Normally 1-2 days will work for all, if you wants/needs higher wouldn't recommend higher than 5 before made sure all computers really can return before deadline.
If multi-project, don't use higher than 1-2 days before made sure no projects passes deadline.
