Thanks for the link, SirUlli. 🙂

For the volunteers, involvement in active research can be a heady experience, Dr. Anderson said. He said he hoped Boinc would foster and tap that enthusiasm.

"Part of the big idea is to try to set things up so the general public has some reason to be interested in all these different science projects," he said, "so it's not just something you read about in the back pages of The New York Times when the project is over."

Next step would be to get this platform inserted into the install of the respective Operating systems just as you pull down a Menu for a goofy Graphic Screensaver you pull down a Menu to pick what project you would like the Computer to work on when not using the Computer and it is displaying the Goofy Graphic you picked.

That's what would be a huge step in getting the Technology and it's benefits into the Mainstream.

Unfortunately, there's no way an open-source application would get put in MS Windows by default, by Microsoft. Perhaps if there is enough advertisement and demand, OEMs might install it (it'd be a hell of a lot more useful than much of the other crap they preload). Linux distributions with good package management systems already provide a convenient way to automatically install popular DC applications.

Does anyone know what's up with AstroPulse? I was at their website the other day & it still says they're not taking any more testers. Is that still in beta test?
