I have finally got BOINC/Astropulse to connect and download properly and is doing some work :)

Obligatory Pics? of client and graphics!!!!

TeAm AnandTech stats and download BOINC Windows 1.04

For those who tried it, and couldn't get it to do anything, (ie it was downloading lots of WUs at once and all failing) here's what to do :)

1) Uninstall it, and delete the directory (this will ensure that it is empty and no existing crap is left)
2) Re-install
3) Log into project with Address http://maggie.ssl.berkeley.edu/ap/ and your account key as emailed to you.
4) It should now download the AP 1.04 client, a few (2-10 maybe, depending on your computer/speed - my 2.1GHz AXP got 8, my 2GHz P4 laptop got 2) work units WITHOUT FAILING!! :)

You should be able to get it to work on a unit now, and give us some credit! ;)

If anyone wants to try it out, and didn't sign up before, PM me and i'll send you my account key, and you can try it out with that :);)

You don't have to have the graphics showing all the time if you don't want, it will run just fine (and probably faster ;)) without the graphics showing :) So it is kind of a CLI. There's always the Linux client ;)

any idea what processors are fastest at this?

(not that bang/$ won't most likely be heavily favoring the lower end athlons, just curious)

I'll be able to tell you how fast an Athlon XP @ 2400+ (166MHz FSB) when it completes the work units :)

As for other machines, others will have to provide that information :)

Got it working but I dont think I'll start up until either it becomes a final build or seti ends.

Judging by the low frame rates it doesnt appear like the graphics are being rendered on the video card. One would think by off loading the graphics to the video hardware a lesser performance hit would result along with higher frame rates. I wouldnt think it would be too hard to implement.

Ok have it running now. looks like around 10 hours for a WU with Athlon XP 1600 :(

Edit: Ok after further thought 10 hours isn't that bad. the WU's are 1MB while for SETI-1 they are about 350KB on SETI-1 this same computer takes around 3:45 to do 1 WU. Looks about the same pace.

I've finished my first result and now it's not uploading :(
It's also 3.3 mb in size, maybe not the greatest for those on a dial-up connection.

I put it on one of my machines for a couple of days and I dont think the beta version should even been let out of its box, this is really a pre beta edition, it is so buggy that it is not worth the time or effort let alone the wasted machine time.
