BOINC and Opteron 165

I have it running in a test jig. No OC yet. only 17 minutes into the first two WUs and over 30% already.

Over 90 F in my office and the Big Typhoon is keeing this thing at 104F

ARHHHHHHH...



My Christmas present to myself is an Opteron 165 (arrived) and the Asus A8R-MVP (in transit). How well do you think this will work with BOINC-seti?

Will BOINC see this as a dual processor or is there anything special I have to do?

If your OS detects it's 2 cpu's, BOINC will also see 2. As for using both cores, make sure General Preference:
"On multiprocessor, use at most N cpu's" is set to 2 (or more).

I have my Opteron 165 installed and overclocked from 1.8 to 2.4 GHz it is doing two WU in 45min Blows away my Pentium 4 3GHz system does 1 WU in 1hour 45 min with the optimized client.

My wife had all sorts of complications from her partial knee replacement over Christmas. My precious 165 has been sitting here for a week and all I've had time for is a few quick fondles. My new YY-cube case arrived, the big Typhoon is here. Everything is sitting in a corner and I don't have time to play.
