"Yesterday's release of SETI@home (version 2.00) didn't work
because we had forgotten to call the function (boinc_resolve_filename)
that translates from the filenames in the "slots" directory
to the actual filename in the projects directory.
We just released a new version (2.03) that fixes this.
It's running correctly, with graphics, on our machines here.
In BOINC, an application version can consist of multiple files.
We're using this to include a "SETI@home logo" file
(better_banner2.jpg) that gets drawn as a texture map in
the graphics.
Many of you have noticed that the BOINC screensaver fails to
start the BOINC core client, leading to lots of icons in the system tray.
This apparently is due to a change in Windows (XP security update?).
The same bug now appears in SETI@home classic, for the first time.
Our plan is to change the screensaver so that, if the core client
isn't running, it displays a message telling the user to start the core client.

"I forgot to mention, there's a new version of the Windows
core client (2.08). This fixes various bugs, such as the
problem where right-clicking on Work items
would bring up the wrong popup menu.
Please upgrade if you're running WIndows.
Also: a couple of people have asked how to get SETI@home workunits.
Answer: it happens automatically;
our server now has a mixture of AP and S@h work,
and you should get some of each.
If you're impatient, you can "reset" the project
(right-click on it in the Projects tab)
to flush work currently in progress.

Personally, I'm BOINC'ing a seti-wu, and this has run for a half hour now. 🙂
Speed, it looks like slower than before, but this shouldn't be a problem since it's not wu they'll counting. 😉
Oh, and still only available for current beta-testers.
