What are you talking about? SA is one of the US's biggest allies in the ME.

The Arabs are a collection of countries.

Some countries have leadership that is against the US and our interests.
Others have leadership that is for the US, our interests.

This is typical in many areas of the world.

Do you classify Latinos accordingly to Venezuela, Columbia, Mexico or Costa Rica?

They didn't buy those planes because they're our allies. They bought them because the 777 is an excellent airliner.

This 'for the US' and 'against the US' is such a simplistic bunch of crap.

Depends what the interactions between the countries are.

If the US has put a tyrant in power over a country, if the US is extracting the resources of a country for exploitave low prices, what are they supposed to feel?

Canada is mostly 'for the US'. If the US did to Canada what it did to some other countries, that would change in a hurry.

People act like other countries have nothing better to do that sit around and decide to hate the US - and we ignore when our policies are wrong and causing problems.

Sure helps in making excuses for attacking them for any challenge to our policies.

If the US wants to put a tyrant over a country, and that country opposes the US doing so, does that make them 'anti-US' so the US is justified in putting the tyrant in?

If the Egyptian people resented the US for supporting Mubarak in power, was Egypt 'pro-US' when Mubarak was corruptly in our pocket, but 'anti-US' for the people?

And they already operate about 100 of them. If they execute all their options they will end up with a fleet of 150 (including retiring some older 777s with fewer seats).

As to the Arabs "standing with us"....if you need a long range widebody aircraft you have to talk to either Boeing or Airbus. It's that simple.

And right now the 777-300ER doesn't have much direct competition. Airbus finally pulled the plug on the A340 series.

The 777-200LR is a really cool airplane but I'd hardly call it a game-changer. There aren't that many routes where it's enormous range can really be used.

Emirates has been busting Airbus' balls over the weight and projected performance of the forthcoming A350-1000. Presumably had they been satisfied more of the order would have gone to Airbus (to join their existing A350 order). 787 production is backed up until something like 2020 now.

Are people really bitching about the "Arab" part of this? We're exporting $18-26B worth of goods...stop complaining.

The question is, what percentage of these exports will be flown back into our skyscrapers?

None. They will use Domestic air craft for that

On topic, it's good that people are buying our products. This means lots of well paid people will still have jobs for the Occupiers to protest against. :p

Yeah, and the A350 hasn't even flown yet. The 777-300ER is in service and has shown itself to be a world-beater.

As people cheer this, I hear Boeing is a 'proxy lobbyist' for China. China knows they can't legally lobby Washington, so instead they have Boeing do it on their behalf.

They give Boeing compensation and deals for doing so.

Boeing being a multi-national corporation about profit, does so.

What exactly do you think corporations are supposed to pursue other than profit?

Boeing wants to sell equipment into china.
China requires Boeing manufacture parts in China for access to its markets.

Boeing asks Washington for permission to sell equipment overseas.

And you think that Boeing is the only export company that has ties to China.
Boeing has ties to 30 -40 countries for manufacturing parts.

Same with many US exporters.
To access China's markets, China requires investment into China.
The US may not have that requirement but we have open markets, not closed

Which does kind of show what suckers we are. We should force the Chinese to invest in the US if they want to sell their lead-painted plastic trash here.
